How to Combat Swine Flu
Today, people are able to travel all across the globe quickly and easily. This level of connectivity has enabled our modern way of life. The negative effect of this, is that it also allows viruses and illness to move and spread further and faster than ever before, putting all of us at risk. This was highlighted during the 2009 outbreak of swine flu. What started out as a small outbreak in Mexico became a huge-scale, global pandemic in a matter of weeks. People need to know how to combat swine flu, fortunately Testo provide equipment to help contain swine flu.
Detection of Swine Flu
The ability to contain viruses is of vital importance to help prevent further risk of
pandemics. Testo offer a wide range of electronic measuring instruments including infrared temperature measurement devices to help in the detection of swine flu cases. When used in an area where large numbers of people are entering or leaving a country, such as a station or airport, an infrared temperature measurement device can detect persons presenting a fever, even in crowds. These people can then be further checked for viruses and quarantined if necessary.
Infrared Temperature Measurement
Testo provides a comprehensive range of infrared measuring instruments, enabling extremely precise and quick non-contact temperature measurement. As part of the
Innovation Offensive for the company’s 50-year anniversary in 2007, Testo’s expertise in the field of contact and non-contact infrared temperature measuring was brought to bear with the development of a new thermal imager. This instrument transforms infrared radiation into visible images, allowing temperature to be analysed in building thermography and in industrial service and maintenance. The thermal imager testo 880 quickly became an important contributor to the continuing growth of the company.
Testo not only supply devices that help detect indicators for the spread of viruses. They also supply equipment that measures noise and air quality, among many other parameters. All of these devices are highly beneficial in keeping an airport running efficiently.
Instruments for Monitoring Indoor Air Quality
The versatile testo 435 is an air quality monitoring device used to monitor indoor air quality for adjusting air conditioning systems. The probe is used to measure indoor air quality variables such as absolute pressure, air temperature, CO2 and relative humidity. The device also features a series of probes to monitor other factors that can affect indoor air quality. The level of turbulence probe allows air flow velocity in a room to be analysed. Light conditions in workplaces and computer screen frequencies are measured using the new Lux probe. Readings from the surface temperature probe and the air humidity probe, allow dewpoint to be calculated and mould-risk spots identified. The U-value temperature probe and a wireless probe are used to determine the heat transfer coefficient (U-value). The new thermal probe integrates temperature and humidity measurement. This allows flow velocity, volume flow, air humidity and air temperature to be measured using only one instrument. Various measurement methods are available such as hot wire, Pitot tube and vane, which can be used depending on the application.
testo 435 is easy to operate thanks to the implementation of user profiles. For typical applications including duct measurements and measurement of indoor air quality, profiles are stored on the instrument. The profiles save time for the user as they do not have to program the device. Data from a range of measurements are made available to the customer in the form of measurement data records. If requested the company logo can also be displayed on the records. The readings from the testo 435 range of products can be printed using a Testo report printer. Readings can be transmitted wirelessly using a radio link from the probe to the measuring instrument over a clear distance of up to 20m. This means there are no inconvenient wires to get in the way or become damaged.
There are four versions of the new testo 435 available. Included are versions with integrated differential pressure measurement and other instrument functions such as a memory function, PC compatible software and a wide range of probes for measuring all factors that can affect indoor air quality.
