A staff of 40 members see to development, production and sales of the company’s famous high quality instruments.
Target Systemelectronic GmbH is a German manufacturer of radiation measurement equipment. Over the years target’s expertise became advanced miniaturized electronics for Gamma radiation spectrometry. Already in 1992 target developed digital signal processing devices for use in spectroscopy. This ground breaking technology was patented with the FZ Jülich and digital signal processing is now the basis of all nuclear electronics. Many new, revolutionary instruments have been successfully introduced since that time. Target’s various multi-channel analyzers are the core of many applied systems that have been developed for many special applications.
Customers in nuclear medicine rely on target’s systems for accurate Iodine measurements, the steel industry uses target’s steel sample monitors, scrap companies use target’s detection electronics in cranes and the IAEA inspectors verify special isotopes with target’s handheld instruments. target’s digital PC-radiation measurement cards and detector plug on instruments are used also in numerous standard applications in Universities, research centers and industrial laboratories around the world. The following milestones illustrate target’s successful operation:
- 1984 Founding of target systemelectronic by Jürgen Stein
- 1985 MATE, NIM based MCA for multi input and multi parameter application
- 1990 TMCA, PC based MCA card for multi input and multi parameter application
- 1991 TISA, PC based integrated MCA card with on board HV, Amplifier and ADC for NaI(Tl) detectors
- 1992 ISA, PC based integrated MCA card with on board HV, Amplifier, ADC and Preamp Power for HPGe detectors
- 1992 Development of the first portable gamma spectroscopy systems
- 1996 nanoSPEC, the world smallest MCA for NaI-detectors, integrated into the detector socket
- 1998 dMCA, PC based digital MCA card with PCI bus, for multi input and multi parameter application
- 1999 identiFINDER (fieldSPEC), the first digital handheld gamma spectroscopy system with finder and nuclide identification
- 2001 dMCApro, PC based integrated digital MCA card with on-board HV and Preamp Power for high resolution gamma spectroscopy
- 2002 scintiSPEC, the first integrated MCA for NaI detectors with USB Interface
- 2002 grabSPEC, automatic radiation detection system integrated in crane grabs
- 2003 picoSPEC plus insitu system for HPGe detectrors with integrated wireless data transfer and system control. Target Instruments inc. in Oak Ridge, TN/USA is founded.
