Hold Baggage Screening using Explosives Detection Systems

Smiths Detection supplies major airports around the world with high-throughput x-ray systems for automatic explosives detection in hold baggage. The advanced technology units can be stand alone or built into conveyor systems. Smiths Detection also offers IONSCAN table-top explosives trace detection equipment, which are widely used in international airports to support explosives detection operations.

Among the Smiths Detection automatic systems are HI-SCAN 10080 EDX, used in a high speed level 1 role in multi-level explosives detection checked baggage screening systems. The HI-SCAN 10080 EDtS represents the second generation of proven Smiths Heimann automatic explosives detection systems technology. EDtS offers the highest detection rate in its class and thanks to its detection capability, the EDtS is able to screen up to 1,800 bags per hour – setting a new standard for automated screening technology.

Air Cargo Screening using High Energy X-ray Systems

Smiths Detection offers systems to screen all cargo passing through airports or other transportation systems. These allow screening for threats or contraband in crates palletised freight and LD-3 airfreight containers, using Smiths Heimann universal high energy X-ray systems for non-intrusive inspection and fast throughput.

Narcotics, Contraband and Explosives Screening Systems

Customs officers can check for narcotics or contraband on arriving passengers with table top swabbing system for baggage or a walk-through portal to check passenger’s clothing - including a wide version for trolleys to check passengers and their luggage simultaneously.
