SAFEAERO AB Trelleborg is a manufacturer of state-of-the-art, one-man operated aircraft deicers. The company is located in southern Sweden in the port city of Trelleborg. SAFEAERO is one of the major producers of deicers providing advanced and state-of-the art technology, which includes high safety standards, low fluid consumption and very fast and efficient operation. The company has more than 20 years of experience with the production of deicers. The world's first one-man operated deicer, the model 412 was introduced in 1985 and at that time, the deicer was trademarked under the name Hägglunds Moelv and was produced in Norway. In 1988, a new and more advanced deicer, the model SDI 213, was introduced to the market, and since then, several new models have become available, such as the SDI 217, 218, 220 and most recently, the 223XXL.

All of the mentioned models of deicers were designed from the very beginning with one concept in mind, and that was to have the most user-friendly one-person deicer available on the market. As a result, all of these units are very easy to operate and provide the highest level of safety around the aircraft.

SAFEAERO is also providing the market with more conventional deicers, the SAFEAERO Typhoon, the 210XXS and the Gadi. This product line of deicers are low-cost units designed for smaller and less frequented airports and are available for one or two-man operation.

SAFEAERO's broad product line includes the following models:

  • SAFEAERO 223XXL
  • SAFEAERO 220EH
  • SAFEAERO 220
  • SAFEAERO Typhoon
  • SAFEAERO 210XXS
  • SAFEAERO Gadi

Deicing Units

Safeaero provide a wide range of deicing units. The operating height varies from 6m on the Gadi to 23m on the Safeaero 223XXL model. The tank capacity varies from a 500 liter one tank version to 14000 liter three tank versions.

SAFEAERO deicers are equipped with heating systems from 80 to 870 KW that are very economical and environmentally friendly. The system is designed to heat only the fluid required for the deicing operation, rather than heating the entire tank volume. Electrical stand-by heating from 9 to 36 KW is also available for immediate delivery of hot fluid at 85 degrees.

Aircraft Deicing Truck

SAFEAERO is also a producer of low-cost deicers (Safeaero Typhoon and 210XXS) mounted on standard truck chassis for small and regional airports. The SAFEAERO deicing trucks feature boom systems with a working height from 10 to 18 meters and tank sizes from 2,000 to 8,000 liters. The aircraft deicing trucks can also be equipped with diesel and electrical heaters as well as proportional mixing systems to minimize glycol consumption. These units are very reliable and easy to maintain, which is advantageous for smaller airports as there is no need for large and complex maintenance facilities.

Glycol Usage

Low Glycol Consumption

With the increased emphasis on environmental concerns and regulations, Safeaero provides deicing units with the lowest glycol consumption on the market. All Safeaero deicers meet the latest safety and environmental standards.

With Safeaero’s state of the art proportional mixing and hot at nozzle system the Safeaero deicers reduce glycol usage to a minimum. The proportional mixing system can be adjusted automatically according to the outside temperature between 3 - 75% in 1% steps. The flow can also be adjusted between 30 to 220 l/min for additional fluid savings.
