FB Technology

FB Technology Suppliers of Airfield Lighting Equipment and Maintenance

F.B. Technology was founded in 1993, specialising in airfield lighting installations and maintenance support. It quickly evolved into designing innovative products of airfield lighting light measuring equipment in conformance with ICAO and FAA. The company is based in Evry France.

FB Technology has now 52 systems operated by International Airports or local contractors all over the World. The systems have been sold in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, USA, Peru, China, Hong-Kong, India, South Korea, Singapore, Kenya and the United Arab Emirates.

Our systems have received praises from our customers for their accuracy and easiness to operate. They provide airports with detailed reports on their airfield lighting photometry status enhancing their compliancy level and increasing their maintenance efficiency.

Our products:

  • PAC system (Photometric Airfield Calibration): A mobile system for measuring the photometry of all inset and elevated lights accessible by vehicle. PAC can be installed easily on any type of vehicle.
  • PAC Lab system : A workshop photometry measuring equipment complementary to the mobile PAC system.
  • DICE: a cleaning system designed for airports wishing to use safe and advanced equipment for cleaning lights with the greatest efficiency and under all weather conditions. It uses the cryogenic technology.

Airport Visual Aids

Airport Visual Aids - DICE Lighting Cleaning SystemDespite the fact that radio-navigational systems have seen tremendous improvements in their accuracy in conjunction with satellite-based guidance systems, airport visual aids are keeping their vital role in terms of visual guidance for the pilots when landing and taxiing.

With the increase in air traffic, airlines cannot afford to see the aircraft and passengers delayed due to bad meteorological conditions. Therefore the airport visual aids have always to be at their best level to ensure the necessary guidance even in low visibility procedure. This can only be achieved by efficient maintenance and accurate control of the performances of the airport visual aids. FB Technology can provide the necessary systems for either the cleaning of the lights with the DICE system or the airport photometry performances control with the mobile PAC system, the workshop system PAC Lab.

Approved FAA and ICAO Airport Lighting

Performances of the airport lighting are strictly defined by the ICAO lighting standards in terms of airport design and light intensity characteristics. In addition to these, the FAA (USA) has also provided standards on design requirements in terms of mechanical characteristics. Once approved by the concerned Aviation Authorities, light fittings can be installed on runway and taxiway lighting.

Due to the environmental and operational conditions, the airport lighting needs to be regularly controlled in order to ensure it still complies with the ICAO and FAA lighting standards. ICAO and FAA have therefore recommended the regular measurement of the Airport Lighting. The PAC and PAC Lab systems are the definite answer to the standards requirement. With the FB Technology products, the airports are always ensured that their installations are in compliance with the FAA and ICAO airport lighting standards.

Light Intensity Measuring Device

Light Intensity Measuring Device - PAC SystemThe International or National Aviation standards call for airfield lighting light intensity measuring, the light beam spread and the light orientation and with a frequency dependant upon the traffic and the environmental conditions. For example, FAA calls for monthly checks of runway centreline lights.

The PAC system is a light intensity measuring device with more than 50 units operating all over the World on major airports providing the ultimate solution for airport electrical teams. FB Technology can provide you with an accurate, repeatable light intensity measuring equipment that is very easy to use. The PAC system issues results for immediate use by the maintenance team or the persons in charge to verify the compliance of the airfield lighting installations.
