Its core product – “The Evac+Chair”, was the world’s first, and still pre-eminent, global benchmark for Emergency Stairway Evacuation Chairs.

The Evac+Chair, winner of the Industrial Designers Society of America – Design of the Decade Award, is an ingenious, single operator, mechanical ‘stair chair’ utilising two endless traction belts to transport a mobility impaired individual down building stairs in a safe, smooth, controlled descent.

From its inception, the Evacuation Chair Evac+Chair has revolutionised evacuation techniques for the disabled from multi-storey buildings in an emergency, and is today accepted world-wide as providing the most efficient means of evacuation for the mobility impaired.

The Evac+Chair has proved its life-safety features in various emergency evacuations around the world, most notably during the World Trade Centre terrorist attacks, when it was credited with providing the crucial means of escape for several disabled survivors.

The Company began manufacturing the chair in 1985 and has steadily built the brand, selling over 50,000 units worldwide, to a diverse range of public and private/corporate sector customers.
