ATNS Air Traffic Management Services, Air Navigation Service Provider
ATNS, the Air Traffic and Navigation Services Company of South Africa, is the sole provider of air traffic, navigation, training and associated services within South Africa. Responsible for 10% of the world's airspace, ATNS proudly manages more than 685 000 arrival and departure movements every year while maintaining ISO 9001:2000 accreditation.
Our services extend further than the familiar air traffic control services into the provision of vitally important aeronautical information used for all flight planning purposes as well as search and rescue activities and the maintenance of a reliable navigations infrastructure. Our ATC training academy trains international aviation professionals and maintains and subscribes to ICAO standards and recommended practices.
ATC Training Centre
The Aviation Training Academy (ATA), was formed in 1995 to provide ATC training, aviation related training as well as a complete spectrum of technical training courses required for air traffic control, engineering support and airports at the ATC Training centre. Since its inception the ATA has continued to expand its ATC training client base and is now proudly training delegates from Africa and several international countries.
It is the mission of the ATA to provide a comprehensive and affordable range of applicable air navigation services training exceeding customer needs in accordance with regulatory regional and international standards.
The ATA also offers a service to its clients by examining their unique training needs and adapting the required training to the customer specific environment. Such training needs may also be offered on site (at client location or premises).
The ATA maintains amongst others an ISO 9001 / 2000 accreditation which makes it a recognised and world-class training institution. The ATA fully subscribes to ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices (SARPS) and requirements.
Our clients are assured that training is conducted in line with international standards. The ATA also strategically selects its global partners in order to ensure that the best training standards are upheld. These partnerships provide the ATA with opportunities to review current and develop new courses as required by its clients.
Air Traffic Management Services

TNS is an independent, commercialised company that was established in 1993. It is the sole provider of its unique service offering within South Africa, and operates at 21 aerodromes throughout the country, including:
- Johannesburg International Airport
- Cape Town International Airport
- Durban International Airport
With pride, over half a million arrival and departure movements are handled at these ATNS-services aerodromes annually.
Affiliated to the National Department of Transport, with the minister as its only shareholder, ATNS is in total responsible for approximately 10% of the world's airspace, and continues to partner into Africa and train delegates from all parts of the globe.

On the international front, ATNS is considered as a leading Air Navigation Service Provider.
As original founder of - and involved at executive level within the activities of - CANSO, the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation, which serves as the global voice for air traffic management, ATNS strives towards providing for superior quality, cost-effective service delivery.
We are also principally involved in industry matters, and continue to work with many international counterparts on matters of air traffic management concern.
