Posted by Airport International's UK Correspondent on 02/02/2009 - 14:05:00
Heavy snow in the southern UK on Sunday evening has led to numerous flight cancellations and delays at UK airports.
London City Airport, Stansted, Luton and Southampton are all closed, while there are significant delays at Heathrow and Gatwick.
Norwich and Leeds Bradford Airports were also closed, but have since reopened.
The snowfall is the heaviest in the UK for 18 years.
Heathrow Flight Cancellations
Both runways at Heathrow are closed as of 1000 GMT Monday 2nd Feb.
With both runways shut, several airlines have announced flight cancellations at Heathrow.
British Airways has cancelled all flights from Heathrow until 1700 GMT.
Airport operator BAA says it will take about two hours to clear the snow that has accumulated on the runways and taxiways.
Stansted Airport Flight Cancellations
Stansted remains closed, where Ryanair has cancelled 73 flights.
Gatwick is still open, but there are significant delays and the airport is advising passengers to check with their airlines before travelling.
The public transport systems across south-east England have also been affected.
More snow is due later on Monday 2nd and into Tuesday 3rd of Feb.
