A Facebook survey has judged Los Angeles International Airport the most ‘social' in the world, with more users posting it as a location status than any other hub.

The social networking site placed LAX at the top of a list of 20 airports which also included London Heathrow, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta and Dallas/Fort Worth. The information was collected from all users of Facebook and other services who posted up airport check-in updates between August 2010 and November 2011.

Within the top 20 list, US airports claimed the topmost five slots, with Sydney Airport - at number seven - the first listed international airport.

"LAX has a lot to talk about with over $4 billion in on-going construction of new facilities and renovations in all of our terminals and our social media sites are cost-effective elements of our customer service program", Gina Marie Lindsey - the executive director of Los Angeles World Airports - said in a statement on the LAX Facebook check-in results.

"We're excited to receive this recognition and are committed to ensuring these sites remain relevant and valuable to our travelers and fans", Los Angeles World Airports' Lindsey added.
