Civil Aviation Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain (CAAB) and Si ATM have signed a contract for the replacement of the current Flight Data Processing System of Bahrain International Airport. The advanced FDPS functionality of Si ATM's core product, already in operational use in Riga FIR, will be the basis for the delivery.

CAAB is responsible for the provision of Air Navigation Services in Bahrain FIR, a busy airspace in the Gulf area, which in addition to Bahrain also covers Qatar and parts of Saudi Arabia. BATCC handles up to 1500 movements per day of mixed military, scheduled and non-scheduled traffic.
The new FDPS will support operations for Area, Approach and Tower control. It will interface with a number of other systems e.g. RDPS, AFTN, FIDS, Finance and Meteo systems. FDPS will support Eurocontrol OLDI procedures with all neighbouring FIRs i.e. Teheran, Muscat, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Kuwait. The project will be implemented in 3 phases within a one-year time frame.
The Bahrain system will be based on the FDP functionality of
Si ATM’s full ATM product which is running operationally in Riga FIR. This will be adapted to Bahrain environment and enhanced with additional functionality. The new FDPS will support silent co-ordination and stripless HMI in Tower and Approach. The system may be expanded in future to the full.Si ATM product that in addition includes radar data processing, safety nets, monitoring aids and medium term conflict detection.
The system will be built with standard commercial components, have an open architecture and be easily expandable. It will comprise a duplicated FDPS Server and up to 18 working positions intended for operators with different operational roles and tasks.
For Si ATM this order is an important break-through towards a new customer in a new geographical area.
