The ATC team at Warton Airfield are upgrading their Micro Nav BEST radar simulator. It will simulate their new Park Air Systems NOVA 9000 radar display system giving high fidelity on-console training combined with control over all aspects of the simulated traffic, weather, operations and unusual situations.
Aircraft Test and Radar Training Simulator
The simulator will be integrated with the real system on site this month. It will be used to support on-the-job training, for refresher training and for training in handling emergencies and unusual situations. It will also used at this Centre of Excellence for Military aircraft test flying for Special Tasks Training.
BEST is being widely used to simulate operational equipment and radar control work stations for testing and evaluation tasks as well as training. It allows capacities to be proved, safety nets to be tested and controller facilities to be assessed using realistic traffic samples with accurate real-time behaviours. Micro Nav have developed a range of interfaces for radar data, flight plan, OLDI, AFTN, weather and other data streams.
