Thanks to Automatic Systems’ INTERLOCK DOORS Air France Flight Crew Feel Unstressed

Automatic Systems

Since January 2006, all French airline crew members use Automatic Systems’ interlock doors to enter what has become the biggest waiting room for flight attendants in France where the pre-flight briefing takes place.

As this briefing is extremely sensitive since 11/09, tight security measures in terms of access control are required. Only one sort of equipment could answer satisfactorily this need: the SNG hermetically secured portal.

20,000 pilots and air hostesses use this high-security equipment. Security was the first requirement that motivated Air France's choice.

Personnel Access Control Access Security Doors

Flight crew's comfort was also an important factor which made Air France choose Automatic Systems' interlock door to automate its personnel access control to the headquarters at Roissy Pôle, in Paris. Cabin crew generally carry several pieces of luggage and require « 0 » constraint level. It was necessary to provide an access control system corresponding to this second requirement.

This innovating obstacle, equipped with state-of-the-art detection technologies, is a timely response to the airlines needs. Air France had a difficult mission: the identification of a device providing the best combination for optimal fraud control and employees' comfort.

The SNG high security interlock door meets these requirements. It is a reliable ally against fraud: it efficiently screens every passenger and guarantees that every person transiting towards a secured area is authorized to penetrate into it.

Automatic Systems Detection and Analysis Solution

Security is guaranteed by strong hermetic glass obstacles backed up by the ASDAS electronic system (Automatic Systems Detection and Analysis Solution). Detection uniqueness enables to determine that there is only one person in the portal. The uniqueness check is carried out at the entry gate. The ASDAS system makes use of traditional detection technology (IR cells). It is not sensitive to variables such as luminosity, temperature, type of flooring and the obstacle itself. SNG is also extremely safe for users: there is no risk of injuries when transiting through this equipment.

Access Control System Interlock Doors Interlock Doors

Among its main characteristics, we may point out:

  • a contemporary design allows easy integration in all architectural environments.
  • the extensive use of glass surfaces eliminates the feeling of confinement and permits surveillance from the outside.
  • its construction enables an optimal throughput with a minimal footprint.
  • its modularity permitting installation of standard or wide passages, either one lane or multiple lanes, single or bidirectional, with the addition of a side exiting automatic door.
  • easy installation and maintenance.

For all the above-mentioned reasons, SNG is the ideal high-security solution for automating access control.
