PD Systems monitors have a reputation for reliability and longevity of which we are justifiably proud. A number of the original design of colourmaster monitors are still operating at Gatwick after 7 years of 24/7 continuous service without failing. So how is this achieved?

Take a look inside a PD monitor and the first thing you will see which sets us apart from other manufacturers is that we use double-sided plated-through-hole fiberglass PCBs.Using these high quality boards completely eliminates the problem of cracked or unreliable solder joints which plague designs which use lower quality single sided PCBs.
The other significant difference which you can see between PD monitors and those of our competitors is that we have perfected the modular design over many years and have minimized the cabling required between the various PCBs.This reduces another major source of failure.
However, the real differences are in the areas which you cannot see!Our engineers have spent their careers working on the design of video systems giving them unparalleled experience in this field. All our designs are subject to many weeks of exhaustive testing and evaluation to ensure that they will operate correctly under all conditions. All our production is carried out in-house so we have total control over quality.
Inspections are carried out at every stage from board assembly to final testing.Every PCB is tested on our own purpose built test gear to check its operation before it is built into a monitor. Once each monitor has been assembled, it is then put on soak test for a minimum of 48 hours where it is exercised through various video modes, standby operation and other tests.Only when it has successfully completed these tests is it finally set up to the correct geometry and colour settings before being packed ready for shipment.
But the process doesn’t stop there.Any failures which occur, both during the building of the monitors and when they fail in the field are treated with the utmost seriousness.A detailed analysis is carried out on the nature of the failure and its likely cause. If this analysis identifies any design change which could reduce or eliminate the cause then this change is immediately implemented via an engineering change order. In rare cases, changes will be carried out on units in the field if the threat to reliable operation is great enough.
This is facilitated by our database containing location and service histories for every monitor which we have ever produced.
Our reputation relies on the reliability of our products and we continue to refine our designs to ensure that colourmaster and visionmaster monitors will go on delivering high quality displays for year after year without fail.
