Kidde Fire Trainers won a contract for an Aircraft FIRETRAINER® for Pago Pago Int’l Airport in American Samoa, after a vigorous competitive selection process.
The project, funded in part by an Airport Improvement Project (AIP) grant from the US Federal Aviation Administration, is aimed at improving fire-training capability on this South-Pacific US territory island.
The Aircraft FIRETRAINER® will enable firefighters to safely replicate aviation fire emergencies in a safe and controlled manner. The trainer is unique because it has a "dual fuel" capability.
It can burn jet fuel for maximum training realism, or it can use cleaner-burning propane to minimize its impact on the local environment.
