L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its Security and Detection Systems subsidiary will supply Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) with its MVT-HR multi-view tomography explosives detection systems. L-3 will initially design, install, and maintain 22 MVT-HR systems, as well as provide 81 operator workstations for the BCIA Terminal 3 hold-baggage screening system. BCIA is the host airport for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
Designed to meet the most stringent explosives detection standards of regulatory agencies worldwide, the MVT-HR's high-resolution technology and patented state-of-the-art image processing offer the best onscreen threat resolution and analysis capacity currently available in a multi-view computed tomography explosives detection system.

In late 2005, the MVT-HR was among several L-3 explosives detection systems to receive explosives detection certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). "We are honored to be part of the growth of China's burgeoning aviation industry," Mr. Ripp added.

Some of the world's most security-minded airports, including London's Heathrow, Amsterdam's
Schiphol, and Australian airports serviced by the Qantas Group, also use the networkable MVT-HR to screen hold baggage for explosives.
