Digidod - Damage Registration and Documentation with CASIO’s IT-600

CASIO Europe GmbH

Up to now it has been difficult to document damages incurred during transport in real time. The consequences are an immense effort when it comes to reconstructing of the events to determine who was responsible for the damage.

In addition, the manual and in part complicated registration of the incident also harbours other sources of errors. Therefore long-winded and complicated research has to be carried out for customers and insurance companies.
urscom, a German company based in Meerbusch, has developed an innovative damage registration solution called digidod, which uses the CASIO IT-600 handheld terminal. Digidod is a novel, stand-alone product module from the digivod® software solution of urscom and its principles are quite simple.

Damage RegistrationDamage Registration Device

The powerful software is integrated in a CASIO IT-600 handheld device, which is fitted with a laser scanner, digital camera, LED light and WLAN. This means that the damage can be registered anywhere and saved immediately with exact times, barcode data, digital photo material in a PDF-file and then sent to a central application. The indexed data is saved in a database and can be searched, shown and printed quickly and easily in a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape etc.).

For this purpose CASIO's IT-600, a new generation Industry-PDA for efficient mobile information management, is just the ideal device. Due to a high-performance barcode scanner even reading of dirty or damaged barcodes is possible. Successful scans are confirmed by LED light, buzzer and vibration and will ease working in a loud environment. The integrated one mega pixel camera delivers just the right resolution for the storing of images in pdf-files and sending them via WLAN.

Digidod and CASIO's IT-600 of course cannot prevent damages during transport but ensure reliable, convenient and fast processing of these unpleasant incidents.
