Clearway De-icers
Verdugt supplies the worlds airport industry with a range of organic salts designed to ensure required friction on traffic operational surfaces, through the prevention of ice and snow build-up, in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Over the years Clearway has grown into one of the most widely used runway de-icers, marketed in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Throughout our manufacturing process, the emphasis is on chemical purity and the highest standards of quality control. Clearway products
Clearway 1 is a potassium acetate based liquid runway de-icer. It was the first environmentally friendly de-icer in Europe, introduced in 1987, and is now one of the most commonly used Runway De-icers in Europe. Independent tests performed by the UK Transport and Road Research Laboratory highlighted the superior friction properties of Clearway 1 compared with other de-icing chemicals. Experience show that short after application, Clearway 1 increases the friction value on the runway. The effect is dependent on the current weather situation, but in general Clearway 1 is regarded to have excellent properties in terms of hold-over time
Clearway 3 is an enhanced potassium acetate based liquid runway de-icer. The viscosity and density of the product is higher than for Clearway 1, resulting in longer hold-over time. Clearway 3 was specially designed to have the same properties as glycol-based product, with a good environmental profile. The research behind the product to find the optimal solution on inhibitors and viscosifiers was extensive, and Clearway 3 is today the only product on the market with properties similar to a glycol-based product. Clearway 3 is especially effective in climates with heavy precipitation and high humidity, and is the preferred choice for airports experiencing such climates
Clearway F5 is a potassium formate based liquid runway de-icer. Clearway F5 is developed from the experiences with Clearway F1, which has been sold to European airports for a number of years. Clearway F5 has lower BOD and COD values than products based on potassium acetate, and is used at airports where the environmental constraints are especially high. Clearway F5 was introduced to the market in the 2002/2003 season, and feed back from our customers is that it has excellent melting capabilities and better hold-over effect than other potassium formate based products currently on the market
Clearway 6s is a sodium acetate based solid runway de-icer. Due to the purity of this product, it contains no corrosion inhibitors. Clearway 6s has been especially developed to show all benefits of sodium acetate based solid de-icers, while eliminating the storage stability issues related to such products in the past.
Due to its unique irregular granular shape, Clearway 6s will remain where it has been spread. This shape for solid de-icing chemicals was first introduced by Verdugt and is now the adopted choice by other de-icers manufacturers in the market place. Clearway 6s can be used on its own, or can be pre-wetted with any liquid Clearway de-icer. Clearway 6s is suitable to be used in the most modern spreaders
