Cavotec's Airport Caddies

Cavotec Fladung GmbH - Aircraft and Airport Supply Systems

Cavotec Fladung has developed an innovative, environmentally friendly system which aims to supply aircraft with power, water and pre-conditioned air while reducing costs and time.

Currently, there are three different types of Power Caddy and a special unit, the "PCA Caddy", which can deliver pre-conditioned air to an aircraft without using Diesel or Freon gases.

Power Caddy's

This a motorised battery-driven cable reel trolley fitted with two cable reels. The drive unit is a 24 VDC motor which ensures the Caddy can both reel-in and reel-out cable completely automatically. Steering is done with a foldable steering arm which retracts automatically to a vertical (braked) position when released. With the steering arm in the vertical position the unit can also be locked to protect against possible misuse. The Caddy 2x90 has a continuous operational autonomy of approximately 2 hours after which the onboard battery needs recharging at the battery charging point positioned at the Caddy parking bay.

The Caddy 180 has all the features of the Caddy 2x90 but with some important changes. The Caddy 180 has only one reel and an onboard 180 kVA - 400 Hz converter. The battery charger is mounted on the Caddy and recharges the battery automatically when the main power cable is connected. The onboard cable reel is fully automatic; reeling-in and out. The Caddy 180 is fitted with a towing eye and the drive unit can be technically disengaged if longer transportation of the Caddy is required.

Pre-conditioned Air Caddy (PCA)

The most recent example of a Cavotec Fladung innovation is the new PCAir Caddy. This new system can provide, in an efficient and environmentally friendly way, any type of aircraft with pre-conditioned air.

The mobile PCAir unit connects the compressed air hose to the bridge connection point and drives out to the parked aircraft where it is hooked up to the air inlet. The PCAir Caddy can produce cold air up to -30 degrees Celsius. Alternatively, it can produce hot air to heat the aircraft during the winter.
