ANNAPOLIS, MD -- The National Cargo Security Council (NCSC) elected officers for 2004 at its annual meeting.
New officers include David Jones, CPP, of Tommy Hilfiger U.S.A., Inc., Chairman of the NCSC; Scott Smith, Alpha Cargo Technology, Vice Chairman; Mike Harthcock, USG Logistics Services, Inc., Secretary; Kelby Woodard, Target Corporation, Treasurer; and, John Detlefsen, Gabriel Technologies, At-Large Member of the Executive Committee.
Thomas E. Sheets, CFE, The Sheets Group, Immediate-Past Chairman, will remain on the 22-member NCSC board. NCSC officers serve a one-year term, beginning January 1. Board members serve for three years.
Since the events of 9/11, the National Cargo Security Council has doubled in size to nearly 1,000 members.
The National Cargo Security Council is a professional association of cargo transportation and security professionals from the entire spectrum of cargo security: air, truck/rail, maritime, and inter-modal.
Committed to “Assuring the safe and secure movement of the nation’s commerce,” the Council’s membership fosters voluntary government and industry efforts; serves as a clearinghouse to collect and distribute information to prevent cargo-related crime; provides platforms to address transportation security issues; and, supports voluntary initiatives by government and the transportation industry to develop effective programs that combat cargo-related crime. The Council works closely with well over 20 other associations in the transportation field.
