Since Josef Gartner GmbH became a member of the publicly listed Permasteelisa Group of Italy big changes have been coming up, also for the historical part of Gartner´s business, the former gate division GTS – Gartner Tore + Service GmbH. GTS is now a 100% subsidiary of the Josef Gartner GmbH.
With its total turnover of about € 6 million developed by its 45 employees GTS spends just a small part to the group results. However, all the more GTS benefits from the worldwide activities of their mother companies.
Coming from standardized steel-made folding gates for fire- and rescue services, bus and railroad services and for industrial use the range of products has been developed during the last decades. Also sliding and lifting gates has been realized in various projects and in many cases the products has to be customized such as pivoting- or butterfly gates.

Whether hand- or power operated, GTS designed various gates made of solid steel structures. Special knowledge in the non-standard-gate field has been accumulated caused by the wide range of different challenges.
Since activities were mainly focussed in Germany, GTS had to fight hard with the general oeconomic troubles especially in the construction industry in the german market. Supported by the group GTS now is able to jump over in the international market. As a result of that, gates for the Museum of Modern Art in New York and for the Plantation Place Building (photo 1) in London has been delivered.

In summer 2006 GTS finishes the installation of 24 power operated upward folding gates for the Dubai International Finance Center (photo 2) in the United Arab Emirates. These gates in a size of width 8,50 metres and hight 4,00 metres are - of course - custom-made. They have to close temporarily shopping colonnades during the extremely hot summer season to keep the inside air conditioned climate.
To ensure these physical features without condensation or foggy glass the gates are built with a full thermal break. During the convenient temperatures of the gulf region winter season the gates will be lifted and folded upwards - like a canopy - to enable the people free access to the yard adjacent to the colonnades. By the way these gates fulfill the aestetic requirements of architects eyes as well.

Not in the international market but in Germany GTS installed one of europeans largest sliding gate for a new aircraft maintenance hangar for Lufthansa Condor Cargo in Frankfurt (photo 3). Six single leaves will be moved on 3 separate guidelines form a gate of width 175,00 metres and hight 20,50 metres. Each leave and especially the top guide rail consists of massive steel structures to take extreme wind loads. The leaves as well as the whole building are cladded with Everlite® translucent Polycarbonate panels.
Also in the traditional field of folding gates GTS realized lots of interesting projects. For example a railway magazine and workshop close to Munich was equipped with new 4-leave folding gates (photo 4). Many others of these solid and long-life gates are installed for various uses with different requirements.

For the future Gartner Tore + Service GmbH is looking for installation- and service-partners to maintain the realized projects and to enlarge their gate business based on the benefits of the Gartner and Permasteelisa group of companies.
