• Advertised Search and Selection offers the client a combination of approaches designed to cast the net as wide as possible. Candidates are selected through advertisements run in the trade press, journals, and newspapers as well as via the Internet. In parallel to this, Marlborough selects candidates through its traditional Executive Search process. The results are pooled and a shortlist presented.
• We particularly recommend this approach when the client wishes to reach the broadest candidate base possible and/or wishes to appoint a middle-management individual. For reasons of competitive intelligence many clients demand confidentiality and Advertised Search and Selection offers comparable levels of discretion to the classic Executive Search approach. Conversely some clients prefer to display their corporate logo and branding within the advertisement as evidence of their expansion plans.
• Initially we conduct an on-site visit at the client’s HQ to establish working conditions, meet key decision makers and gather a view of the environment, which prospective candidates can expect to enter.
• Together with the client we produce a draft job profile and person specification, agree a timescale for delivery and draw up contracts. Within a few days we submit a detailed, comprehensive job profile and person specification for approval.
• Advertising copy is expertly written and the advert - drawn up by a Marlborough consultant - is designed to ensure maximum response. The draft is approved by the client and forwarded for publication. The client benefits from exclusive advertising rates that Marlborough has negotiated with leading industry publishers.
• Having created a talent pool of suitable candidates, we arrange face-to-face interviews and via a process of elimination produce a ‘short list’ worthy of presentation to the client. Any one of these persons will be capable of performing the role and each person we present meets the criteria previously set down and agreed upon with the client. Marlborough provides the client with an in-house generated assessment report detailing our opinions and comments on the relative capabilities of each of the short-listed candidates.
• Marlborough arranges an interview agenda with the client and manages short-listed candidates’ travel arrangements. We also offer the option of our presence at interview as an impartial observer, providing independent advice and ensuring continued evaluation.
• Following detailed feedback sessions, Marlborough gathers in-depth references. Our input is considered invaluable at offer management stage, as we provide a useful buffer between candidate and client.
• Following contract signature with the selected individual we personally write to unsuccessful candidates. Marlborough remains in close, regular contact with both the appointed executive and client ensuring a smooth transition following the successful placement.
