Services and Systems for Surveillance and Security
Now more than ever, all States need to guarantee the security of citizens and companies, at the same time respecting their privacy and allowing continued freedom of movement. High-tech instruments are required to check the territory and for surveillance of sensitive areas, at the same time giving valid, reliable decision-making support and being constantly available.
Telespazio designs, develops and manages Surveillance and Security services and systems for civilian and military government bodies and institutions.
The distinctive feature of Telespazio’s approach is the fact that it can offer solutions in which the technological, organisational and service components are perfectly integrated and tailored to specific customer requirements, as well as adapting to any type of area or risk to be monitored.
“How does a S&S System work?”
Thanks to an effective, smart scene analysis system, the S&S system proposed by Telespazio combines the possibility of receiving information from any number of “observation points”, fixed and mobile, widely distributed over the territory, with optimisation of the resources dedicated to identification and management of “alarms”. At this stage the system automatically recognises risk situations and generates an alarm signal, which is sent to the Control Centre or operating units.
The effectiveness of a surveillance system derives from the ability to promptly supply useful information, its pervasiveness and real time operating management support, including availability of communications channels. To these factors we add the advantage of being able to cover areas irrespective of their geographical features (urban areas, mountainous zones, deserts, etc.), and whether or not existing communication infrastructures are available.
Therefore, when a “risk” situation is identified, the data or images are compressed and sent via satellite to a Control Centre, where they are compared in real time with all other information available, held in local or remote databases. This process allows decision makers to rapidly prepare an action plan based on complete, reliable information. Instructions for checking or tackling the situation will then be sent directly to the units that will intervene, wherever they are operating.
Features:
Acquiring images.
This is a multi-source system, which can monitor more or less vast areas using many observation instruments. Information can be acquired not just with fixed video cameras, but also with mobile swinging video cameras, radar, sensors, etc." which can be fitted on any type of dedicated terrestrial, maritime and aerial patrol means.
Analysing scenes.
Images acquired are analysed in real time by “video agent”, a “smart” software which automatically detects and recognises a set of “risk” behaviours. Automated monitoring allows the implementation of very vast surveillance systems, for example, for checking transport networks, protecting infrastructures, border surveillance, thanks to the centralisation of decision-making activities.
The software is able to identify: crossing virtual perimeters, segmentation and extraction of moving objects, automatic tracking of moving objects, crowds, alarms for predefined events (door opening, etc.), detecting object presence/absence in scene, detecting movement in the scene, checking objects at preset intervals.
Transmitting information
Using innovative compression algorithms, each observation point can transmit in real time not just simple alarm signals, but actual live video images. The maximum level of protection in data management is guaranteed by encryption keys which meet high security standards.
Centralised, decentralised or distributed: absolute architectural flexibility
The system is highly flexible, allowing the user to select the most suitable type of architecture for the requirements. The control body which receives alarm indications from the operating stations can be located at any of the various levels allowed by the system architecture: central level; decentralised; distributed. Any solutions required can be adapted, both in terms of the area to be monitored and information management and sharing with decision-making centres and operating units.
An integrated communication system
To guarantee maximum integration and interoperability with existing customer information systems, we can create secure communications networks using any transmission technology. A solid and safe network infrastructure, which allows interconnection between all of the parties involved, boosting the efficiency of supervision, co-ordination and distribution of the information at the various levels.
Main advantages for the customer:
- service availability irrespective of the territory’s geographical features
- high level of compatibility with existing technological infrastructures
- supply of turnkey solutions, from definition of requirements to after-sales services
- 24/7 network support and preventive, corrective and adaptive maintenance
- rapid system implementation and upgrade
- training for operating personnel
