Blue Eye Video is a leading manufacturer and supplier of passenger counting, queue measurement and pedestrian tracking products.
They have announced a smart sensor, the VCS, which represents a new approach to the tasks of counting, tracking and measurement.
Migrating Power to the Sensor
By migrating processing power from a central location to the sensor itself, significant savings are made in infrastructure costs. Each sensor has an IP address and can be interrogated over a network. Multiple devices can be configured so that a matrix of sensors provides total coverage of an area.
The VCS is a compact device measuring just 140 mm x 105 mm x 36mm and its low power consumption of less than
3 Watts means that the device can be powered using PoE (Power over Ethernet).
Accurate and reliable
The VCS smart sensors are loaded with specific algorithms to perform important measurements. There are four versions:
- VCS B-TOP: For accurate bi-directional passenger counting
- VCS B-Track: For tracking passenger trajectories through a facility
- VCS B-Queue: For measuring queue length and wait times
- VCS B-Attract: For measuring dwell time at a specific location
By understanding passenger behaviour, airport operators can optimise passenger flow and enhance the customer experience.
Retail performance can be analysed with reference to customer activity, and revenues increased by planning improvements.
Whilst the VCS smart sensor is a video based device, no images are stored and no personal data is collected by the system. The VCS measures passenger activity discreetly and non-intrusively.
