Thorn AFL Launches SafeLED IQ, a Unique Lighting Solution

Safegate International

Thorn AFL, part of the Safegate Group, today launches the new and unique SafeLED IQ, an intelligent lighting system that enables increased safety and efficiency in airports.

The SafeLED IQ, which is patent pending, can be remotely controlled and contains integrated LED, converter and control unit.

With ever-increasing traffic on airports around the world, there is a need to manage larger amounts of aircrafts more effectively and with maintained safety. To meet those needs, Thorn AFL today launches the SafeLED IQ addressable airfield lighting. The system can be used to guide the pilot from landing to take off.

The SafeLED IQ looks like a usual lamp, but is an integrated system. It consists of a LED, a converter, light monitoring as well as a switch and control unit. The lighting can be remotely controlled without need for further hardware, ensuring high availability. The lighting system is designed to minimize maintenance, as it contains a reduced number of components compared to traditional lighting. The cover is extremely resistant to harsh weather conditions.

We are proud to be able to further help increase efficiency and safety in airports with this new and unique lighting system. The solution is yet another result of our in-house development with a patent pending, says CEO Per-Olof Hammarlund

Safegate provides advanced solutions for guidance and docking, improving capacity and safety at airports. The concept, which is called the Safegate Effect, saves time and money as well as contributing to working procedures that results in less damage on the environment. It also enables safer aircraft movements on the ground.
