Environmentally Friendly Airlines

Safegate International

With an ever increasing demand for air travel, how can airports become more environmentally friendly? Per-Olaf Hammarlund MD of the Safegate Group shares his views.

How Eco-efficient can your Airport be?

SafeLED IQ

This is a concern that is growing in force with every day that passes. Airbus forecast an average traffic growth of 4,9%per year for the coming 20 years. How is this equation going to be solved in the future? When it comes to aircraft, the average CO2 emission is 93g per passenger kilometre today. This can be compared to a car that emits some 200g per passenger kilometre. The new A380 will have an emission level of only 30g per passenger kilometre so the aircraft industry is already making strides to reduce emissions.

Airport Efficiency

Airfield LED ApplicationWhat can you do? Much of the fuel burnt is during approach, landing and take-off. How can this be decreased? If you guide every aircraft off the runway to the shortest taxiway route you can save one slot per hour per runway. If you use A-VDGS (advanced visual docking guidance systems) you can save two minutes per docking. Ask Safegate and we can calculate what this can mean for your airport in terms of capacity increase and reduced CO2 emissions. If we put all our resources together I am convinced that collectively we will be able to save the Earth for our children.
