Safegate has supplied 16 Safedock visual docking guidance systems (VDGS) for the new BOT terminal at Antalya Airport under a contract awarded by Celebi, one of Europe's biggest ground handling companies, at the end of last year.

This brings the total number of Safedock systems to 32 at Antalya Airport, which is 50% owned by Fraport. This latest delivery to a Turkish airport follows earlier installations of 18 systems to Istanbul International Airport in 1999 followed by four additional systems installed as part of last year’s terminal expansion in Istanbul, and the original 16 Safedock systems installed at Antalya in 1998.

As in the previous transactions, Safegate was selected largely based on the customer’s satisfaction with the performance of the existing Safedocks and the support from the company. All the Safedock units are centrally controlled and monitored through the Safegate Gate Operating System (GOS) and interface to the airport’s flight information system (FIS) for automatic capture and reporting of Block On/Off times. The commissioning of the complete system took place in March and the opening of the new terminal is planned to spring 2005.
