The Executive Search Process:

  • Initially we conduct an on-site visit at the client’s HQ to establish working conditions, meet key decision makers and gather a view of the environment, which prospective candidates can expect to enter.
  • Together with the client we produce a draft job profile and person specification, agree a timescale for delivery and draw up contracts. Within a few days we submit a detailed, comprehensive job profile and person specification for approval.
  • Having agreed a profile, the research process begins in earnest. We set about gathering a ‘long list’ of target individuals via our extensive database of personal contacts and also through painstaking original research. Based on referrals and recommendations we make discreet contact with qualified individuals. As part of an inclusive process we request details of specific individuals whom the client considers worthy of approach and mark as ‘off-limits’ those whom it deems too sensitive to contact.
  • Marlborough’s ‘long list’ of candidates is scaled down to a ‘median list’ via lengthy telephone screening. We are ruthlessly objective in our appraisal of candidates at this stage and only take forward those whom we believe possess the correct skills,motivation and personality to make an effective contribution to the client.
  • We arrange face-to-face interviews with each of these individuals and via a process of elimination produce a ‘short list’ of suitably qualified candidates worthy of presentation to the client. Any one of these persons will be capable of performing the role and each person we present meets the criteria previously set down and agreed upon with the client. Marlborough provides the client with an in-house generated assessment report detailing our opinions and comments on the relative capabilities of each of the short-listed candidates.
  • Marlborough arranges an interview agenda with the client and manages short-listed candidates’ travel arrangements. We also offer the option of our presence at interview as an impartial observer, providing independent advice and ensuring continued evaluation.
  • Following detailed feedback sessions, Marlborough gathers in-depth references. Our input is considered invaluable at offer management stage, as we provide a useful buffer between candidate and client.
  • Following contract signature with the selected individual we personally write tounsuccessful candidates. Marlborough remains in close, regular contact with both the appointed executive and client ensuring a smooth transition following the successful placement.
