The course will cover modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12 as defined in the United Kingdom Department for Transport (DfT) National Aviation Security Programme. The course will also cover the basics of module 8, which will provide an insight into how X-ray screening equipment is used in the industry, and will also cover the health and safety guidelines for using such equipment. On completion of the course, successful attendees will receive a DfT approved Air Cargo Security Level 3 certificate. Please find more details below:

Who should attend this course?
- Cargo Airlines, Freight Forwarders, Courier companies and packing companies who are or wish to become Regulated Agents must nominate a Security Manager who holds a valid Level 3 certificate. The Security Manager is responsible for writing and maintaining the company security policy, ensuring compliance with local procedures and is the first point of contact for the DfT and must attend a Level 3 course to obtain certification.
- This course is also beneficial for a manager/security manager nominated by a company wishing to become a Known Consignor.
- Managers and interested parties from other organisations and countries who wish to obtain an overview of cargo security requirements and the implementation of security procedures within the cargo industry.
- Current holders of Cargo Level 3 Certificates who need to renew their certification (It is highly recommended by the DfT that Cargo Level 3 accreditation is renewed every 3 years).
- The Level 3 course is also required by individuals wishing to gain a full overview of the air cargo security regime if they wish to apply to the DfT to become trainers or accredited validators.
Air Cargo Security Course Content
The course includes the following modules:
- Module 1 - The Threat to Aviation and the Objectives and Organisation of Aviation Security
- Module 2 - Principles of the Cargo Security Regime
- Module 3 - Access Control and Cargo Protection
- Module 4 - Principles of Security Control
- Module 5 - Methods of Concealment
- Module 6 - Recognition and Reaction to Suspicious Circumstances
- Module 7 - Recognition of and Action upon Discovering a Suspicious/ Prohibited Article
- Module 9 - Searching by Hand
- Module 10 - Patrolling Controlled Areas
- Module 11 - Handling a Telephone Bomb Warning
- Module 12 - Managing/ Supervising Security (including the management aspects of modules 3 and 10, and the responsibilities of the nominated Security Manager).
Course Fee
The Course fee for this 3 day course is GBP £350.00 (plus VAT) per participant, which includes a 2 course hot buffet lunch and light refreshments, served each day. The timings of the course are 09:00 - 17:00 each day.
