Hand Held Products, the global leader in image-based handheld scanning solutions, announced today the launch of the 4600r Retail 2D Imager, designed for high performance point-of-service (POS) and backroom scanning with the capability to read 2D bar codes and capture digital images.
Powered by Adaptus™ Imaging Technology 5.0, the 4600r combines omni-directional reading, advanced illumination and Streaming Presentation™ mode technology to provide true fly-by and presentation scanning performance - a first for any 2D imager.
The 4600r empowers retailers with new capabilities at the POS by combining high-performance linear bar code reading with 2D reading capability enabling advanced profit- and productivity-enhancing functions including:
- Fly-by and presentation scanning for faster processing and higher performance.
- Digital signature capture.
- Capturing digital images of paper documents, such as pharmacy prescription scripts or ID cards for ID verification when retrieving a parcel, for paperless workflow and simplified storage and retrieval.
- Effortless reading through plastic and other reflecting packaging materials.

In addition to its advanced data capture capabilities, the 4600r also features Host Download functionality, giving businesses the ability to centrally manage and update all of the scanners in their enterprise through their host system - eliminating the need for IT staff to perform manual updates on each device. Like all Hand Held Products scanning solutions, the 4600r is built to last with no internal moving parts, and features a 5-year warranty. In addition, the 4600r is rugged enough to resist to more than 50 drops from 1.8 m onto concrete.
