Benefits of these systems include 100% conveyability of baggage, positive tracking of each individual baggage item, efficient integration of security screening and high availability. Vanderlande Industries offers two proven DCV system concepts: the tubtraxtub-based system and the bagtraxtrack-based system.
(DCV) Destination Coded Vehicle System Solutions
DCV systems load single baggage items into tubs or carts and transport these coded units individually to the required destinations for baggage offloading. A choice of two proven system concepts allows any specific needs to be met optimally. These use either passive tubs on modular conveyor elements (tubtrax), or carts on tracks powered by linear motors (bagtrax). Both concepts can be combined into hybrid system solutions. Random Access and Dynamic Loop Early Baggage Storage (EBS) systems can be fully integrated in DCV systems.
Optimal Security and Conveyability
The application of DCV systems can be justified for tunnel-between-terminals connections, as well as for complex routings within major or medium-sized terminals. The development of DCV systems requires specialized knowledge and experience in baggage process dynamics. Simulation is performed to find optimal operational solutions, while ensuring easy adaptability for unpredicted changes in requirements. tubtraxand bagtraxsystems, including their standard routing process controls, are fully proven in operation. Vanderlande Industries has successfully implemented more than eight DCV systems at major airports since 1990.
Typical DCV speeds of 7 m/s for tubtrax and 12 m/s for bagtrax result in the shortest possible in-system times for baggage. This contributes to short and guaranteed Minimum Connecting Times (MCT) for transfer passengers in a larger terminal environment. Capacities of 3000 bags per hour for tubtraxand 4,500 bags per hour forbagtraxare proven. Overall system availability has been proven to reach up to 99.7%. The necessary accurate control of DCV systems is provided by standard, modular software based on a proven record in existing systems.
Total Support for Maintenance and Operations
Vanderlande Industries provides all the required service facilities throughout the operational lifetime of the system, ensuring constant performance and availability. These can range from preventive maintenance on a call-out basis to a full on-site presence for both service and operational support. System updates can also be carried out to meet changing capacity, layout and functional requirements.
