  • The Bosch Abacus Evolution has simple philosophy– 2 panels, one range, no confusion
  • Easily expandable from 8 to 256 zones
  • Ideal for Grade 2 and Grade 3 residential and commercial applications

With the new Abacus Evolution intruder alarm panel, Bosch Security Systems has simplified the task of meeting the latest EN50131 intruder alarm standards which all installers and users must meet from 1st October, 2005.

With just a single range and 2 models, the Evolution can be configured to meet virtually any residential and commercial requirement to EN50131, PD6662 and DD243 specifications. It also meets or exceeds stringent BSIA and ACPO false alarm requirements while maintaining the highest level of protection.

Abacus Evolution intruder alarm panelThe Abacus Evolution comprises just 2 models - the ICP G2 model for 8 to 64 zones in Grade 2 applications and the ICP G3 model for 8 to 256 zones to Grade 3 - and features a wide range of snap-in modules for easy configuration and expansion. It also features optional communications for remote servicing and maintenance.

“This unique 2 model approach takes the confusion out of the market,” said Jeremy Hockham, UK MD of Bosch Security Systems. “No longer do installers have to wade through complex specifications and standards to choose the right model, and there’s no need to stock and support many different ranges, models and parts.

In addition to reducing inventory costs, the Evolution also results in lower servicing and training costs and it’s very easy to expand,” he emphasised.

Both Evolution models use a modular bus-based snap-in expansion system that allows extra zones, memory modules, modems etc to be added and re-configured to meet virtually any requirement quickly and easily.

All devices are easily ‘visible’ on the bus allowing quick local or remote set-up and servicing. An optional plug-in digi-modem and AMP (Automatic Maintenance Programme) also offers installation companies added benefits such as :- Confirmation of correct testing of the system, a full diagnostics report including parameter programming plus at no additional cost to the installer the ability to increase remote services offered over a period of the year as a revenue generator but with added benefit to the customer.

In addition, automatic remote maintenance and reporting via a digi-modem allows installers to provide useful added-value services to their customers for additional revenue generation.

As well as normal alarms, the Evolution can also send SMS text messages to up to 4 GSM mobile phones.

Other key features include pin codes or up to 16 proximity tags for access and control, full up and downloading via remote PC, a built-in calibrated Volts, Amps and Resistance meter for faster servicing, logging of up to 500 to 1000 events, partitioning for up to 14 areas, 16 wards and 128 shunt groups, timers for entry and exit and much more.

The system is also extremely easy to use and set-up by the installer.

According to Darren Cox, Intruder and Fire Product Manager for Bosch Security Systems, the Abacus Evolution has been specifically designed to make it easy for installers to meet the UK requirements of EN 50131 with minimum effort and cost.

“With the Evolution, we’re making it simple to choose and specify intruder alarm panels for residential and commercial premises,” said Darren Cox of Bosch. “It’s the industry’s first complete intruder alarm solution to meet the latest EN50131standards with just 2 models and will appeal to busy installers as it will cut their inventory and stocking costs, while reducing support, training and certification costs,” he added.

Bosch is supporting and promoting the launch of the new Abacus Evolution with full training and support programmes, and the product is already being stocked by the leading distributors.
