New QinetiQ Development is Key to Airport Safety Management

The Toolbox enables Tarsier users to store, view and analyse all detection data provided by the system. Through intuitive spatial and temporal representations of FOD and wildlife detected by the system, trends and patterns can be identified which can then feed into the airport’s overall FOD or wildlife management procedures.

Tarsier Toolbox: Airport Safety Management

The information stored includes:

•     Detection time
•     User acknowledgement time
•     Retrieval time
•     User comments
•     Location (Latitude and longitude)
•     Weather (Temperature, Visibility, Dew point, Humidity, Pressure, Wind speed)
•     Image from Tarsier camera
•     Detections grouped by: Hour, Day, Week, Month, Year.

The user can generate reports over a specified period of time. The reports can be viewed in a number of standard formats:

•     Web page
•     Google Maps
•     KML file for viewing in Google Earth
•     Adobe PDF file for easy printing and sharing
•     Microsoft Excel

To aid with the identification of patterns in FOD locations over long time periods, the Toolbox also includes a heatmap view, which graphically displays the density of FOD detections overlaid on an airport map or image. This tool can quickly highlight potential problem areas, allowing efforts to be focused where they are most needed.
